Why FilingPro?

Why Tondiarpet Clients Choose FilingPro

Expert GST Registration in Tondiarpet — qualified professionals, 15+ years experience, zero-penalty track record.

Suo Motu Registration Avoided

Where a Tondiarpet business is approaching threshold or has unknowingly attracted Section 24, REG-01 is filed proactively to avoid suo motu registration under Section 25(8) and the consequential demand under Section 73.

Record For Future Audit

The application record is retained in litigation-grade form for the period required under Section 35(1) read with Rule 56. Any subsequent inspection under Section 67 or scrutiny under Section 61 finds the foundational data intact.

Policy-Grounded Drafting Approach

Each registration is approached with reference to its statutory underpinning. Section 22 thresholds, Section 24 triggers and Rule 8 procedural specifications are explicitly mapped before drafting, not treated as background. This grounds the application in design intent rather than form-filling routine.

Constitution-Aware Form Drafting

Documentation requirements vary across proprietorships, partnerships, LLPs, private limited companies and HUFs. Each constitution has its specific Rule 8 implications, and the application is drafted to meet the precise documentary expectations applicable to that legal form.

Pre-Submission Document Review

Every annexure is reviewed against the applicable rule before submission. Address proof, signatory authorisation, photograph specifications and bank account proof are independently verified, removing the most common causes of REG-03 deficiency notices observed in our practice.

Aadhaar Authentication Walk-Through

Rule 8(4A) authentication is conducted with the signatory in real time over a coordinated session. The probability of failed OTP capture or session timeout, which would route the file to on-site inspection, is materially reduced by structured assistance.

Key Benefits

What Tondiarpet Clients Get

Every GST Registration engagement delivers measurable, guaranteed outcomes — expert professionals, on time, every time.

Aadhaar Authentication Failure Recorded
Where the UIDAI server or the GST portal causes authentication failure, contemporaneous screenshots with timestamps are preserved. This evidentiary record protects the Tondiarpet applicant from being penalised for an infrastructural failure beyond their control.
Principal Place Proof Litigation-Ready
The address proof set is assembled with regard to the kind of objections jurisdictional officers in Tamil Nadu have historically raised. Where the premises is leased, the registered rent agreement, NOC and a current utility bill are placed in a single defensible bundle.
Cross-Jurisdictional Registration Coordination
For applicants with operations spanning multiple States, the legal constitution, signatory data and PAN linkage are aligned across REG-01 applications. This prevents subsequent allegations of suppression under Section 122 arising from inadvertent inconsistencies between State registrations.
Composition Election Documented
Section 10 election is captured at the registration stage with a clear note on Rule 5 conditions and Section 10(2) disqualifications. The Tondiarpet client thereby retains the audit trail necessary if the election is later questioned.
Litigation File Built From Day One
Every REG-01 filed is accompanied by a hard copy file containing the application, supporting documents, Aadhaar authentication log, REG-02 acknowledgement and ARN screenshot. Should any future enforcement action under Section 67 or Section 73 arise, the foundational record is intact.
ITC Chain Integrity Preserved
Timely registration ensures the registered person's outward supplies enter the input tax credit ledger of downstream buyers without break. Late entry creates an interval of supplies on which credit cannot be claimed by recipients, eroding commercial relationships and inviting Section 16 disputes.

GST Registration in Tondiarpet, Chennai 600081

Tondiarpet (PIN 600081) falls under the Tiruvottiyur Division of the Chennai North, the jurisdiction that handles statutory matters for businesses at this PIN. Every Tondiarpet engagement we open begins with the basics: PIN 600081, the Tiruvottiyur Division, and the coordinates 13.1311, 80.2914 that anchor the locality. Records we prepare for Tondiarpet carry the geo-zone 600xx tag and coordinates 13.1311, 80.2914, which map each submission back to this locality. Statutory correspondence for Tondiarpet businesses routes through the Tiruvottiyur Division, so we align every GST Registration engagement to that jurisdiction from the start.

Working in Tondiarpet brings a logistical edge: proximity to Korukkupet and the Tondiarpet Suburban Railway corridor keeps physical document handling fast. The businesses clustered around Korukkupet in Tondiarpet drive the bulk of the GST Registration workload we see each cycle. Tondiarpet sustains a high flow of commerce for a port adjacent industrial and residential locality, and that flow is the raw material for the GST Registration files we close here. Each GST Registration cycle for Tondiarpet reflects its commercial rhythm — invoices generated near Korukkupet, expenses routed through the Tondiarpet Suburban Railway freight network.

For a residential business in Tondiarpet, the GST Registration scope is rarely generic; we tailor the checklist to how that sector actually transacts. Sector concentration matters: when Tondiarpet leans toward residential, the GST Registration risks cluster around the same few line items each cycle. The business mix in Tondiarpet centres on residential, and that sector carries its own GST Registration quirks we plan for in advance. The residential character of Tondiarpet commerce influences everything from invoice formats to the supporting documents a GST Registration review needs.

From the first GST Registration cycle, a Tondiarpet engagement is set up to be audit-ready rather than reconstructed under pressure later. Turnaround for Tondiarpet GST Registration is deterministic — fixed fee, a scoped timeline, and a same-business-day acknowledgement once filed. Our Tondiarpet GST Registration process is built to be predictable, documented, and on time, cycle after cycle. The qualified-review step on every Tondiarpet GST Registration file is where errors get caught before they reach the portal.

We treat Tondiarpet and Kathivakkam as one catchment for GST Registration, which keeps documentation and turnaround consistent. Proximity to Kathivakkam means a Tondiarpet engagement can extend across the locality cluster with no change in cadence. Businesses straddling Tondiarpet and Kathivakkam get a single GST Registration point of contact rather than two. Coverage from Tondiarpet naturally extends to Kathivakkam, so group entities across the area share one GST Registration workflow.

Because we work repeatedly across Tondiarpet, we can benchmark a new client's GST Registration position against the locality norm. The GST Registration mistakes we see most in Tondiarpet are avoidable with disciplined intake, which our checklist enforces. Patterns we track for Tondiarpet include port-adjacent trade documentation gaps, timing mismatches, and the questions the Tiruvottiyur Division tends to raise. Recurring gaps in Tondiarpet port-adjacent trade records are the first thing our GST Registration review closes out.

A startup setting up near Tondiarpet Railway Station in Tondiarpet gets a GST Registration foundation built for the Tiruvottiyur Division from day one. Relocating a registered office into Tondiarpet (PIN 600081) changes the assessing division, and we handle that GST Registration transition cleanly. Incorporating in Tondiarpet comes with jurisdiction, registration and GST Registration steps that we sequence so nothing stalls the launch. When a Royapuram business expands into Tondiarpet, we extend its GST Registration setup to PIN 600081 without disruption.

What is GST registration and when is it required

Statutory basis under Section 22

GST registration in India is governed by Sections 22 to 30 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act 2017 read with corresponding State GST legislation. The trigger for compulsory registration under Section 22 is an aggregate annual turnover of ₹40 lakh for exclusive suppliers of goods in Tamil Nadu (per Notification 10/2019-Central Tax) and ₹20 lakh for service or mixed suppliers. Aggregate turnover under Section 2(6) is the sum of all taxable supplies, exempt supplies, exports of goods and services, and inter-State supplies of a person having the same Permanent Account Number, computed on an all-India basis. Once a person crosses this threshold in any financial year, the obligation to register arises within thirty days under Section 25(1). Section 24 of the CGST Act overrides Section 22 entirely for specified categories including inter-State taxable suppliers, casual taxable persons, persons supplying through e-commerce operators, and reverse-charge liable persons — these categories must register regardless of turnover.

Voluntary registration option

A person whose aggregate turnover is below the threshold can still register voluntarily under Section 25(3) of the CGST Act. Once voluntary registration is granted, all provisions of GST law apply to such a person as they would to any registered person — including monthly returns, ITC eligibility for inputs, and the obligation to issue tax invoices. Voluntary registration is commonly chosen by B2B service providers and traders who want to enable ITC pass-through to their corporate clients, by exporters who need to file LUTs and claim refunds, and by startups that want to capture ITC on early-stage procurement before revenue commencement. Once obtained, voluntary registration cannot be casually surrendered — REG-16 cancellation follows the same procedure as any other cancellation under Section 29.

Registration certificate REG-06 and post-grant steps

Effective date of registration

Form REG-06 — the certificate of registration — is issued after the application is approved. The certificate carries the 15-digit GSTIN, the legal name and trade name, the constitution, the principal place of business and additional places, the date of registration, and the date of validity (for casual or non-resident taxable persons). The effective date of registration is the date from which the registered person is liable to charge GST on supplies and entitled to claim ITC on inputs. For first-time threshold-crossers, the effective date is generally the date the application was filed (if filed within 30 days of liability) or the date of liability itself in delayed cases. For voluntary registration, it is the date of grant.

Bank account particulars post-registration

Rule 10A of the CGST Rules mandates that within forty-five days of grant of registration, or before the first GSTR-3B is filed (whichever is earlier), the registered person must furnish bank account details through an amendment of REG-01. The bank account must be in the name of the registered taxable person and must be linked to the PAN. Failure to furnish bank-account particulars within the timeline triggers Rule 21A suspension of the GSTIN — the suspended taxpayer cannot issue tax invoices or pass on ITC during the suspension. Compliance with Rule 10A is therefore one of the first post-registration housekeeping items.

First GSTR-3B filing

The first GSTR-3B return after registration is due on the 20th, 22nd or 24th of the month following the month of registration grant — the date depending on the State and the QRMP-opt-in status. The first return covers the period from the effective date of registration to the end of the registration month. Output tax on supplies made from the effective date, ITC on inputs received from the effective date, and net tax payable are declared. Section 47 late fee plus Section 50 interest at 18% per annum apply if the first return is delayed. A clean first GSTR-3B sets the tone for the compliance record and reduces scrutiny exposure.

Compulsory registration under Section 24

Inter-State suppliers

Section 24(i) of the CGST Act makes registration compulsory for any person making an inter-State taxable supply, regardless of aggregate turnover. The threshold under Section 22 does not protect inter-State suppliers. The day the first inter-State invoice is raised, the supplier must already be registered under GST. This rule catches many freelancers, IT-services providers and traders unaware — particularly those who scale from local clients to inter-State or overseas clients without proactively planning the registration timeline. Export of goods or services is also treated as inter-State supply under Section 7 of the IGST Act and triggers Section 24(i) registration. The penalty for failure to register under Section 122(1)(xi) is ₹10,000 or the tax evaded, whichever is higher.

Casual and non-resident taxable persons

Section 24(iv) and Section 27 of the CGST Act govern casual taxable persons (CTPs) and non-resident taxable persons (NRTPs). A casual taxable person is one who occasionally supplies goods or services in a State or Union Territory where they have no fixed place of business — for example, a trader from another State participating in an exhibition or trade fair in Tamil Nadu. A non-resident taxable person is one who occasionally supplies goods or services in India but has no fixed place of business or residence in India. Both must apply for registration at least five days before commencement of business in the State, in Form REG-01 (CTP) or REG-09 (NRTP), and make an advance deposit of estimated tax. Registration is valid for ninety days, extendable by another ninety on application in REG-11.

E-commerce operators and sellers

Section 24(ix) makes GST registration compulsory for any person supplying goods or services through an e-commerce operator that is required to collect tax at source under Section 52, regardless of aggregate turnover. This catches every seller on Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, Myntra and similar platforms — even a homemaker selling handicrafts at ₹50,000 a month must register before listing. Section 24(x) makes registration compulsory for the e-commerce operator itself; the operator obtains a separate TCS-GSTIN in Form REG-07. For restaurants supplying through Zomato or Swiggy, Section 9(5) shifts the GST collection burden to the aggregator, but the restaurant must still be registered to enable the flow.

Composition scheme versus regular registration

Eligibility under Section 10

The composition scheme under Section 10 of the CGST Act is an alternative simplified scheme for small taxpayers with aggregate turnover up to ₹1.5 crore (₹75 lakh for special-category States including Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, and Uttarakhand). For service providers, a separate composition under Section 10(2A) is available up to ₹50 lakh aggregate turnover. The scheme is opted at the time of REG-01 application by marking the composition box; an already-registered regular taxpayer can opt in later by filing CMP-02 before the commencement of the financial year. Section 10(2) excludes from composition: persons making inter-State supplies, persons making supplies through e-commerce operators that collect TCS, manufacturers of notified goods (tobacco, pan masala, ice cream, aerated water), casual or non-resident taxable persons.

Composition rates

The flat tax rates under the composition scheme are: 1 percent of turnover for traders and manufacturers (0.5 percent CGST + 0.5 percent SGST), 5 percent for restaurants not serving alcohol (2.5 percent CGST + 2.5 percent SGST), and 6 percent for service providers under Section 10(2A) (3 percent CGST + 3 percent SGST). The composition taxpayer cannot collect tax from customers, cannot issue tax invoices (only bills of supply), and cannot claim ITC on inputs. Compliance is lighter: quarterly CMP-08 challan-cum-statement instead of monthly GSTR-3B, and annual GSTR-4 instead of GSTR-9. Composition is most attractive for B2C businesses with low value-added margins where the simpler compliance outweighs the loss of ITC.

Switching between schemes

A composition taxpayer who crosses the eligibility threshold or whose circumstances change can switch to regular registration mid-year by filing Form CMP-04 within seven days of the disqualifying event. Conversely, a regular taxpayer can opt in to composition only at the start of a financial year by filing CMP-02 before 31 March of the preceding year. The switch from regular to composition entails reversal of ITC balance in the electronic credit ledger as on the date of switch. The switch from composition to regular entails ITC claim on opening stock as on the date of switch, in Form ITC-01 within 30 days.

Input Service Distributor

Principal Place of Business

The location specified as such in the certificate of registration, generally the principal place from which a business is operated. The address proof requirement at registration covers electricity bill, property tax receipt, or registered rent agreement with NOC.

Additional Place of Business

Any place other than the principal place of business which is also used for storage, supply or any other activity of the business. Each additional place is captured in REG-01 and listed in the registration certificate.

Aadhaar authentication

Identity verification of the promoter or authorised signatory through Aadhaar-OTP under Rule 8(4A). Mandatory unless physical verification is opted for; authentication shortens the approval timeline considerably.

Physical Verification

Verification of the principal place of business by the proper officer under Rule 25, triggered when Aadhaar authentication is not done or when the officer considers it necessary. The verification report is uploaded in REG-30 within fifteen working days.

Composition Scheme

An alternative simplified scheme under Section 10 of the CGST Act available to small taxpayers with aggregate turnover up to ₹1.5 crore (₹75 lakh for special-category States). Pays GST at a flat percentage of turnover without availing ITC. Opted in REG-01 at registration or CMP-02 mid-year.

QRMP Scheme

Quarterly Return Monthly Payment scheme available to taxpayers with aggregate turnover up to ₹5 crore. GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B are filed quarterly while tax payment continues monthly through PMT-06 challan. Opted-in at registration or by Rule 61A intimation.

HSN Code

Harmonised System of Nomenclature — internationally accepted product classification system. Required to be declared on tax invoices and in GSTR-1. Number of digits to be declared depends on aggregate turnover slab.

SAC

Services Accounting Code — the GST classification code for services, analogous to HSN for goods. SAC 99 is the chapter for services; specific six-digit codes identify the service category.

GST Council

Constitutional body chaired by the Union Finance Minister with State Finance Ministers as members. Recommends changes to the GST regime including rates, threshold, exemptions, and rule amendments. Meetings publish a communiqué called the GST Council Recommendations.

By Industry

Industry-specific patterns in Tondiarpet

How the local trade mix shapes this — In Tondiarpet, where port-adjacent trade businesses dominate the local compliance profile; the business activity radiating outward from Tondiarpet Railway Station and nearby commercial pockets.

Wholesale
Common issue: Wholesale traders operating largely on cash with under-invoicing often defer registration. When the inevitable scrutiny notice arrives — typically from buyer-side GSTR-2B mismatch reports filed by registered buyers — the unregistered status compounds the penalty exposure.
How we handle it: Register promptly even if operating below threshold once buyer-side registration is happening at scale; voluntary registration enables clean ITC pass-through and avoids buyer-driven escalation; reconcile monthly GSTR-1.
Residential
Common issue: Personal-tax-only filers sometimes obtain GST registration unnecessarily when they start a side-gig that does not yet meet threshold. The overhead of monthly returns is then a sunk cost.
How we handle it: Don't register voluntarily unless the side-gig has crossed ₹20 lakh threshold or is making inter-State / e-commerce supplies; voluntary registration once obtained requires the same monthly compliance as any registered person.
Pharmaceuticals
Common issue: Pharma manufacturers face inverted-duty refunds under Rule 89(5) on API to formulation rate differential. Lost if registration is delayed since pre-registration inputs cannot be refunded.
How we handle it: Register early; set up monthly Rule 89(5) refund computation; reconcile API procurement against formulation outputs; file refund applications quarterly under Section 54.
Plastics
Common issue: Plastic manufacturers face HSN-39 classification disputes between primary plastic forms and secondary moulded products. Wrong classification at registration cascades into wrong rate disputes.
How we handle it: Get HSN classification opinion from a tax practitioner at REG-01 stage; declare primary HSN with secondary HSN as variants; capture both in REG-01 with chapter-level codes.
Packaging
Common issue: Packaging units face dual-HSN classification (paper-board HSN 48 versus plastic HSN 39); wrong classification at registration affects ITC accumulation under inverted-duty.
How we handle it: Declare both HSN classifications in REG-01; capture the dominant product as primary; reconcile inverted-duty refund claim by HSN at year end.

SuccessionWholesale

Family-business succession triggers fresh registration

Issue: A second-generation owner taking over a family wholesale business in Sowcarpet on the demise of his father needed a fresh GSTIN since the proprietorship transferred PAN. Section 18(3) read with ITC-02 enabled ITC transfer.
Approach: Filed REG-01 fresh registration in the new proprietor's PAN; filed REG-16 voluntary cancellation of old GSTIN with effective date matching the succession; filed ITC-02 transferring opening ITC from old GSTIN to new GSTIN.
Outcome: Fresh GSTIN issued in 6 working days; old GSTIN cancelled with effective date aligned; ITC of ₹4.1 lakh transferred via ITC-02; first month operations on new GSTIN clean.
Export registrationManufacturing

Manufacturer registers for export operations

Issue: A small precision-engineering unit in Ambattur Estate started exporting components to a US client. Inter-State / export supply triggers compulsory registration under Section 24(i) regardless of turnover.
Approach: Filed REG-01 well before first shipment; opted for Aadhaar authentication; filed RFD-11 LUT immediately on registration to enable zero-rated supply without payment of IGST; ensured shipping-bill, BRC and FIRC trail was set up for future refunds.
Outcome: GSTIN granted in 5 working days; first shipment under LUT without payment of IGST; ITC accumulated on inputs available for refund under Rule 89(2)(b) after closure of the FY.
ImporterWholesale

Importer registers despite import-IGST capture

Issue: An importer of speciality chemicals in Manali questioned the need for GST registration since IGST on imports is captured at customs via Bill of Entry. However domestic onward supply of imported goods is a taxable supply and required GST registration.
Approach: Filed REG-01 in regular category; captured the godown address as principal place of business; ensured BoE GSTIN linkage at customs was correctly captured to enable downstream ITC; first GSTR-3B reconciled BoE IGST against domestic outward IGST.
Outcome: GSTIN granted in 5 working days; ITC of imported-goods IGST captured in GSTR-2B from ICEGATE feed; downstream supply taxed at applicable rate; clean import-domestic reconciliation.
MigrationWholesale

Wholesale trader switches from VAT-era registration

Issue: A traditional wholesale trader in Sowcarpet was operating on a legacy VAT-TIN and had not actively migrated to GST when the regime changed. The GSTR-2B mismatch from his buyers exposed the gap and ASMT-10 notices began arriving on the legacy TIN with no corresponding GSTIN.
Approach: Filed fresh REG-01 under the proprietor PAN, captured all stock as opening balance in TRAN-1 window (eligible portion only — most window had lapsed), set up monthly GSTR-1 / GSTR-3B with HSN-summary discipline.
Outcome: Fresh GSTIN issued; opening-stock ITC partially claimed under TRAN-1 transitional provisions where eligible; B2B buyers regained GSTR-2B visibility; ASMT-10 trail addressed through historical reconciliation.

Common Questions

GST Registration FAQ — Tondiarpet

Common questions from Tondiarpet clients. Call 9566-068-468 for specific queries.

In Tamil Nadu the threshold for compulsory GST registration is aggregate annual turnover of ₹40 lakh for exclusive suppliers of goods and ₹20 lakh for suppliers of services or mixed supplies under Section 22 of the CGST Act 2017 read with Notification 10/2019-Central Tax. Aggregate turnover is computed PAN-wise across all GSTINs in India and includes taxable, exempt, exports and inter-state supplies.
Section 24 enumerates ten clauses that compel registration dehors the Section 22 ceiling, regardless of how small the supplier's turnover may be. These include: every inter-State taxable supplier; casual taxable persons; reverse-charge tax payers; persons liable under sub-section (5) of Section 9 (notified e-commerce categories); non-resident taxable persons; tax deductors under Section 51; vendors selling via electronic commerce platforms that are obliged to collect tax under Section 52; Input Service Distributors; offshore suppliers of online information and database access services to non-registered Indian recipients; and such other persons as the Government may notify by order. Each trigger crystallises on the date of the first qualifying supply.
Yes — we handle GST Registration for individuals and businesses across Tondiarpet (PIN 600081) and nearby Kathivakkam. The work is done end-to-end by our own team, with documents collected online over WhatsApp or email and in-person meetings available at our Maduravoyal and Nerkundram offices. Call 9566-068-468 to begin.
Notification 04/2023-Central Tax, as operationalised in Tamil Nadu and certain other notified States, empowers the GSTN risk engine to route selected applicants for biometric authentication and document verification at a Government Suvidha Kendra. The applicant receives an electronic intimation requiring an in-person appointment at the designated GSK with original documents. This is in addition to OTP-based Aadhaar authentication under Rule 8(4A) and applies primarily to applicants flagged on risk parameters such as multiple registrations from a single premises or PAN-Aadhaar mismatch on residential markers.
Yes. Multiple additional places of business within the same State or Union Territory are added under one GSTIN by listing them in REG-01 Part B Section 17 with separate address proof for each. Branches in other States require a separate GSTIN as registration is State-specific under Section 22(1). Each additional place must have independent address proof submitted.
Yes. Tondiarpet has an active base of industrial and allied businesses, and we regularly handle GST Registration for exactly these kinds of clients. We tailor the approach to your line of work rather than applying a one-size template.
A virtual office can serve as principal place of business only if it is a genuine commercial address with documented ownership/lease, NOC from the owner of the premises, and physical accessibility to the proper officer for verification under Rule 25. Pure mailbox or co-working hot-desk arrangements without dedicated space have repeatedly been rejected by jurisdictional officers and upheld in AAR rulings.
Some commercial intent is required at the time of application — at minimum a registered or rented address with documentary proof. Pure plans or future intent without any address are not accepted. Co-working spaces with a dedicated assigned desk and proper agreement, virtual offices with NOC and physical reachability, or residential premises with NOC from owner are all valid for principal place of business.
Turnaround depends on the service and how quickly you share documents. Once we have a complete set, GST Registration for Tondiarpet clients moves without avoidable delay, and we keep you posted at each stage. We give a realistic timeline upfront rather than an optimistic one.
Form GST REG-02 is the system-generated acknowledgement issued immediately after REG-01 submission, confirming receipt of the application and bearing the ARN. It is downloadable from the portal and serves as proof of application pending issue of the GSTIN. Possession of REG-02 alone does not authorise the applicant to charge GST or claim ITC.
Form GST REG-29 was the form for voluntary cancellation by registrants who had migrated from VAT/Service Tax. The form is now largely subsumed; current voluntary cancellations are filed in Form REG-16 under Rule 20 citing reasons such as discontinuation of business, transfer/merger, change in constitution or turnover falling below the Section 22 threshold.
The exact list depends on your case, but we send a short, plain-English checklist the moment you engage us — no jargon. Tondiarpet clients can share documents as phone photos or scans over WhatsApp on 9566-068-468, and we flag immediately if anything is missing.
Form REG-02 is a system-generated acknowledgement issued immediately upon successful submission of REG-01 along with the ARN. It evidences that the application has been received and is pending consideration. It does not, however, confer the status of a registered person under Section 2(94) of the CGST Act and does not authorise the applicant to collect tax under Section 32 or claim input tax credit under Section 16. The legal status of registered person crystallises only on issuance of REG-06 or upon deeming under Rule 9. Tax invoices issued before that date are infirm and require subsequent regularisation.
Principal place of business is defined in Section 2(89) of the CGST Act as the place specified in the registration certificate from which the business is ordinarily carried on and where books of account and records are kept. It must be supported by ownership proof or a valid rent agreement with NOC; commercial, residential or shared premises are all acceptable provided documentary proof is in order.
Under Rule 8(4A) of the CGST Rules read with Notification 62/2020-Central Tax, the primary authorised signatory and one promoter/partner must complete Aadhaar authentication via OTP after submitting REG-01. Successful authentication moves the application to deemed approval in 7 working days; failure or opting out triggers physical verification of the principal place of business under Rule 9 with a 30-day approval window.
Yes. Section 25(2) read with Rule 11 permits a person with multiple business verticals or separate places of business in the same State to obtain separate registrations for each, provided each is treated as a distinct person. Each GSTIN files independent returns and inter-vertical supplies are taxable transactions with tax invoices and IGST/CGST+SGST as applicable.
